Chocolate: The Exhibition at the Museum of Science
March 2 - May 13
So much more than a popular sweet treat, chocolate has a rich cultural background that extends backwards thousands of years. Until May 7, visitors to the Museum of Science can check out this interactive exhibit on chocolate, exploring everything from its role in pop culture to its symbolic import. Visitors will follow the cacao bean from rainforest through ancient Mesopotamia, and to its discovery by Europeans, who transformed it from a sweet beverage to a bar in the 1840s. Guests can spend an afternoon admiring hundreds of artifacts and replicas, including pre-Columbian ceremonial vessels and 19th-century candy molds. After learning about the scientific, environmental, and economic impact of chocolate on our lives, we can promise you’ll be craving a bite or two by the end of the exhibit.
