The Freepoint Shuttle is a super convenient amenity, which will take you to area attractions in a two-mile radius from the hotel every day between 7AM and 9PM. We even have our own stop in Harvard Square, centrally located in front of Harvard University’s book store, and the Freepoint Shuttle also makes regular stops at the nearby Alewife Train Station. Call the front desk to ask about availability for a pick-up during service hours. Shuttle service is based on availability.
If you’ve seen our shuttle, you know its’s an artful mode of transport that livens up the streets of Cambridge, but did you know that his colorful and whimsical image was designed by a local artist in collaboration with the Cambridge Arts Council?
Entitled Birds, Composition 3, each of the images in the work was hand designed and hand colored, and then the entire composition was assembled in Photoshop by local artist Mireli Brooks (her real name is Miriam E. Bucheli). Isn’t that impressive? Mireli is an illustrator, children’s book author, educator and scientist with a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology. Originally from Ecuador, Mireli lived in the New York/New Jersey area from 1987 until she moved to Cambridge in 2002.
Freepoint Hotel connected with Mireli through Cambridge Arts Council, a city agency that funds, promotes and presents high-quality, community-based arts programming for the benefit of artists, residents and visitors to Cambridge. Established in 1974, the public nonprofit Cambridge Arts Councilis one of the oldest and most dynamic arts agencies in the country. Cambridge Arts works to boost the visibility of the arts and drive local economic activity through various programs, including connecting local artists with exhbition opportuntites at local corporate and business environments.
Freepoint is delighted to have partnered with Cambridge Arts Council for this collaboration.
